Getting started: how it all works
-
Medical travel means receiving healthcare outside your home country, often combining treatment with a recovery stay abroad. Health Journeys helps UK patients access world-class care in India at transparent, fixed prices.
-
We act as your facilitator, connecting you to trusted hospitals, arranging consultations, travel, and local support. You’ll deal with UK-based coordinators and a dedicated concierge team in India.
-
No. Health Journeys is not a healthcare provider. All clinical advice, diagnoses, and treatment plans come directly from your chosen hospital and surgeon.
-
We help people of all ages arrange safe, well-planned treatment abroad. Your hospital will review your case to confirm you’re ready to travel and proceed with care.
Consultations & Documents: Before You Commit
-
You'll be asked for relevant medical reports, scans, or letters so the hospital team can assess your case. All files are handled securely and only shared with your selected hospital.
-
Once the hospital reviews your records, you'll be offered a video consultation with your specialist. This ensures your questions are answered before you travel.
-
No. We don't provide clinical assessments in the UK. All consultations take place directly with your chosen provider in India.
Pricing & Payments: Clarity Before Commitment
-
Pricing is kept clear from the start. Your hospital provides a detailed quote, and we'll outline what's included and what may vary if your clinical needs change in India.
-
Your quote clearly lists everything included, such as hospital fees and accommodation. Flights and visas are usually not included.
-
Payments are made to Health Journeys, acting as the booking agent. Funds are then transferred to the hospital and service providers as part of your confirmed package.
-
If you need to cancel or amend your plans, we'll coordinate any eligible refunds with your hospital according to their terms and ensure the process is smooth.
Travel & Visas: What to Know Before You Fly
-
Yes. For most procedures in India, a medical visa is required. Once your treatment is confirmed, your hospital will issue an invitation letter to support your application.
-
Absolutely. Travelling with someone makes it easier. We'll guide you through their Medical Attendant Visa and help book their accommodation.
-
Medical visas are usually processed within 3–7 working days, though delays can occur depending on consular workload.
-
We guide you on flight options, but you book flights direct. Recovery and companion accommodation is arranged as part of your package.
In-Country Experience: While You’re in India
-
You're met at the airport by your concierge and taken to your hospital for pre-surgery checks. Companions are also supported.
-
Your treatment is managed by the hospital's clinical team. Our concierge team stays in touch to ensure all runs smoothly.
-
We only work with accredited, internationally recognised hospitals and experienced specialists, all reviewed for outcomes and patient experience.
Recovery & Aftercare: Healing with Support
-
Most patients spend 1–2 weeks in India for recovery and physiotherapy before flying home. Your concierge assists with daily needs.
-
You'll receive up to 12 weeks of remote follow-up with your surgeon's team. We help with updates, reports, and post-treatment queries.
-
We connect you directly with your treating hospital for review and guidance. Health Journeys will assist with coordination but doesn’t provide medical treatment.
Privacy & Data Protection: Your Information, Protected

Health Journeys follows UK GDPR and Data Protection Act standards to keep your information secure. Only necessary details are shared with your hospital.
-
Only authorised staff at Health Journeys and your selected hospital. Access is time-limited and monitored for security.
